Freeing My Mind With Free People

-

You know I try to be a positive person in life. I pray, I make time for my family and I try to hustle when it comes to my business. I believe (as cliche as it may sound) that you get out of life what you put in. However, as balanced as I try to be, it REALLY irks me when people try to take advantage of a situation.

Two Friday's ago I was headed home from a client meeting on 77 South, when I watched a bolt fall off a hauler truck and hit my window. I looked up at my windshield to assess the damage and realized not only was my front windshield shattered in the upper passenger side window but that the bolt was still laying on the hood of the Stormtrooper.

My eyes immediately refocused on the hauler truck it had fallen from and I proceeded to flag down the driver. As we pulled off the highway I took a photo of the bolt still laying on the jeep. When we stopped I explained to the driver that it had fallen from the top of his tall tailgate and returned the bolt to him. I also at that point asked for his insurance information and to speak to the owner of the company.

I spoke to Andre, the owner of the Excavating & Hauling company on the phone and he assured me that we would rectify the situation. However, after weeks of getting the run around from the company and their insurance, it became painfully obvious to me that my windshield was not going to get fixed... at least not by them.

After coming to terms with what goes around comes around, I've decided to let karma work it's self out and get the window fixed myself. I mean who has time to sit around and wait on dishonest people? I've got blogs to write.

Thus, to take my mind off the vile words I could name call (can you tell I'm really hanging on to this one?) I've decided to share this perfect spring transition look with all of you!

I'm freeing my mind with this adorable Free People embroidered dress and blush booties from Chinese Laundry. I chose to pair this look with my favorite Page 6 fringe earrings. I get so many compliments anytime I brake them out. Plus, who doesn't love a great bag to complete a pretty seasonal look?

Seeing Spots : Page 6

Ugh, it is officially flu season! Cue the yo-yo temperatures and chronic coughing fits!

Sadly, I am already there. It all started with a sore throat Monday night after work and it was all downhill from there. By bedtime, I felt like I had been hit by a mac truck. My whole body ached and my voice was weak. I poured myself a cup of hot tea with honey and started a hot bath with Epsom salts to ease the pain that was creeping through my muscles, but nothing seemed to help.

Next, a fever set in and I spent the night fist fighting with the sheets on my bed. (We've all been there.) Hot. Cold. Sweat. Shivers. I thought "Surely I'll feel better in the morning". However, when my alarm promptly sounded at 4am I did not feel any improvement.

Unfortunately, in our line of work, sick days are few and far between. Radio is a crazy animal and we have this little thing called ratings that determine how well our show does or does not do. On a three-person show, we don't typically get the luxury of taking off unless the whole show takes scheduled PTO.

People may think, being in the entertainment world we are "show ponies" but I can assure you, we are the workhorses. Yes, the job is a blast but when you are sick, or down, or not feeling 100% it doesn't matter because you have a show to do and people to make laugh. As they say, " The show must go on!"

It's now Friday night and I still feel terrible. I have tried all the medicine in the world this week and the only thing to make me feel even remotely better is, of course, a cute outfit like this one from Page 6  Boutique in Fort Mill.

Who doesn't love Spanx, a leopard turtleneck, and a darling hat! Now, this specific sweater is SOLD OUT but Page 6 has more leopardy goodness in store and on their website! Plus they always have Spanx in stock and they are so easy to mix and match. I also paired this look with these Page 6 booties and my favorite fall necklace.

Happy Friday y'all!

Nanny Fails and Fringe

-

Yes, I know it's only Tuesday but WHEW... What a week! You guys know I share a lot of my life with you all and I feel like I write about this ad nauseam a ton but if I have to do one more flipping nanny interview I might scream!!!

Since April we have been in nanny limbo. Our long-time nanny took a leave of absence for an illness in her family and we loved her so much that we tried to wait for her return, just covering where we could. However, lately, that has added an abnormal about of stress to our lives and careers. Thus, we decided we needed to bring someone on board.

Since then I have done close to fifty phone interviews and over a dozen in-person meetings. Yet, every time I find someone I like and they hear the words "five am" they run for the hills. I even had a VERY unprofessional experience with a girl who accepted the job and TEXTED me twelve hours before her first shift to cancel.

As you can imagine, I saw red! I thought, "What a selfish thing to do". Come to find out she had accepted two jobs and was probably afraid to tell me. Now, I am a very understanding person if you are upfront with me but the way it was handled was unacceptable. The kicker was that I kept asking her throughout the process if she was still okay with the early start and she proceeded to say "yes" every time! I gave her every opportunity to come clean, so I felt blindsided.

I won't lie to you this process has put an undue amount of stress on myself, my radio career and our marriage. I know we will get through this and find someone amazing for our son but there have definitely been times when I have laid in bed crying because I thought I was going to have to quit my job.

This may sound cliche but I am a huge believer that you can have it all, but you're going to have to work your ass off to do it! One of my favorite quotes is "Hard work beats talent, when talent won't work harder", so I'll just keep chugging away until I find a solution to our situation. (Shameless plug if you have nanny experience and would like to apply, email me here.)

In the meantime, here is an adorable new arrival look that will dress up your fall wardrobe from Page 6 Boutique in Fort Mill. (You can also order online here!) I LOVE this off the shoulder Madam sweater in grey! I personally love it styled oversized and I am wearing a medium in the photos.

This stylish sweater goes great with this suede fringe skirt and black booties! I paired this look with a Page 6 necklace and my favorite Chanel handbag to be able to take this look from day to night!

Boho Casual

-

Happy Friday!

I told you guys, I am obsessed with these super soft waffle shirts for fall! Yesterday I showed you how to style Page 6 Boutique's black and white version of this top and today we turn our attention to a casual approach available at Fabrik Birkdale.

You know, I am lucky enough to work with boutiques throughout our beautiful Carolina's and it is my pleasure to give you options up North and down South!

Opposite to the classically printed sleeve on Page 6's top, Fabrik Birkdale's version felt more boho chic to me. Thus, I let the shirt speak for itself.

I paired this vibrant edition of the top with a frayed ankle cropped pair of Hudson jeans (also available at Fabrik Birkdale) and these ridiculously adorable cream flats. These mules are a great addition to your fall wardrobe and certainly won't break the bank!

If you love this look as much as I do, be sure to check out more Fabrik Birkdale trends in my "Try On Session" available on my Instagram Stories.

Enjoy the rest of your #FashionFriday!

Weekend Vibes

Hello old friends!

I know it has been a while but things have been crazy around here. Summer brought with it a whole slew of changes that I can honestly say I wasn't ready for. Things seemed to start spiraling for us around the time Dallas found a new job.

Now let me just say, we were grateful when he was able to find another job and go back to work but I don't think we were ready for what was to follow. Nowadays, Dallas is on the road 2-3 days each week emerged in his midwest territory and new job as a regional VP for a surgical company.

Normally it would be nothing we couldn't handle but add in the passing of our dog Woofer, Cash being speech delayed and our nanny taking a leave of absence, due to a family illness, and you've got a perfect storm.

It has been difficult to work full time on my radio career and blog while balancing gym, swim and speech classes for Cashton. At times I have been downright lonely because Dallas is gone and I have no sitter, so just forget a social life at that point!  Hey, such is life sometimes. So I just lower my shoulder and push through.

We have been struggling all summer to find a bandaid for our nanny situation and because neither of our parents live here it has been hard to find regular help.  I did hire a very nice young lady who was home from college for a couple months, however, when she went back to school all hell seemed to break loose again. Currently, we are still trying to solve our childcare problems but I finally found a minute to shoot some new fall looks as well as sit down and write a new blog.

These new super soft waffle shirts are everywhere this fall!

I am LOVING this one with it's classic black and white sheer sleeves, available at Page 6 Boutique in Fort Mill!

I paired this top with a pair of Fabrik Birkdale's pleather shorts that feature gold stud detailing. To pull those accents I added gold jewelry and a pair of black and gold Louboutins.

I think you will love this look for your weekend adventures! Happy GNO!

Navy Days

-

Happy Monday Boss Babes! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Don't worry if it wasn't long enough Memorial Day is in sight! Not only will we remember the brave men and women who fought for our country but we'll be pretty close to kicking off summer too.

Can you believe it ?!?! Where did spring go?

With the days already feeling like a summer scorcher, I wanted to share with you this dressy casual look from Page 6 Boutique in Fort Mill! I pulled this suede skort out for a date night last week but it's perfect for any night on the town. I opted to dress this look up with a pair of Louboutins but this mustard navy combo would look great with a pair of nude or gold flip flops too!

This sheer navy with gold pinstriped blouse is also from Page 6. They always have amazing pieces that pair easily or can be worn as separates. However, have no fear if you're not great at putting looks together on your own, the girls at the store do an amazing job styling you for any occasion... including no occasion at all!

Okay Winter! We Get It!

-

Okay, winter! We get it!

Geez, this weather is the BIGGEST tease. One day it's 70 and sunny and the next four days are yucky and rainy with the occasional snowflake. I'm over it!

This chill in the air has me so down and the news I got yesterday from Fedex is making it even worse. About two and a half months ago I ordered Dallas a custom wooden American Flag for his birthday. It was supposed to be the latest addition to our man room and he could not wait for it to arrive. Well, sadly it was lost and/or broken in transit because Fedex can't give me any kind of update!

Yesterday a very nice delivery man attempted to deliver a board to which I stopped him and asked where the rest of the package was? Pointing out that it is listed as a 75lbs package and the flimsy board on my porch was about .75 ounces. He apologized and assured me that I would have an update before the end of the day via phone.

Well, as you can imagine the end of the day came and went, so today I started to hunt down anyone who could help me. After speaking to three very unhelpful and unpleasant individuals at the Fedex call center I finally received a call from a very sweet woman from the distribution center who also, unfortunately, came up empty-handed.

I'm not sure where we go from here but at least my outfit is on point today. Changing gears to something positive, this leather jacket and white tee is perfect for today's weather.

This adorable BB Dakota jacket and necklace are from Page 6 in Baxter Village. The white tee and black jeans are two basics you should have in your closet (I tied the tee up for a little texture) and these fun white booties are from Fabrik Birkdale.

See there is always a silver lining on a rainy day.
