Camo On The Mountain

     I was so looking forward to my first time at Beech Mountain to go skiing for their annual 80's weekend. Our whole show was going to hit the slopes and host an 80's costume party at the resort's ski lounge. 

    The weekend started off GREAT! Our Aupair, Elena and I made the 2.5 hour drive up whiney roads into the gloomy abyss. Unfortunately, the weather was being less than cooperative. Ski conditions weren't great since it was warm and rainy, but we were going to party anyway! Beech Mountain was nice enough to set our whole show up in one giant house for the weekend!

    As soon as we all arrived, there was fun to be had! A quick dip in the hot tub and a slice of pizza was the prelude for the evening. We all got ready in our BEST 80's ensembles and headed out for the night. Hosting the resort's party was a ton of fun and everyone really brought their A-game when it came to costumes. We saw, Ghostbusters and Joan Jet, Don Johnson and Hulk Hogan, but the first place award for the night went to Cheech and Chong!  

    The night seemed to go off without a hitch... until now. After making it back to the house everyone took another quick dip in the jacuzzi and headed to bed. That is when all hell broke loose for me. I closed my eyes at 1:45am and not long after I was violently awakened by the sudden urge to use the restroom and puke at the same time! 

   Now I know what you're thinking. LauRen, you probably just had too much to drink. I had 2 drinks all night! This was not the spins! This was something awful... something different and I proceeded to spend the next 7 hours unable to hold anything down. Ironically when I called my husband back home, he had been dealing with the same ailments. We BOTH had the stomach flu in two different cities. 

   He urged me to come home ASAP as he was feeling the same way I was. He had been watching Cashton all weekend and was afraid to be around him and give him the flu too. So Elena and I got into the car and made the horrific drive back to Charlotte. As you can imagine driving almost 3 hours puking into a plastic bag is no fun! 

    When we arrived back home Elena became the real MVP! She took Cash and let Dallas and I quarantine ourselves in our bedroom until the vomiting passed and we could sleep off the shakes. 

    All in all, I guess you could say, feeling a little "green" left me inspired to share this camo look with all of you! The earrings, pants and white waffle tee shirt are from Fabrik Birkdale. I paired them with my Gucci flip flops since the weather is a little warmer today and this bamboo bag from Red Dress Boutique. Enjoy!

Great Grays

I said it yesterday during my #TryOnTuesday session at Fab'rik Birkdale, "Winter is here for the long haul".

It's 30 degrees outside and much of the United States is in a "deep freeze". I mean for God sakes, it snowed in Jacksonville, Florida today! Break out the cute long sleeves and coats because we are in the heart of sweater weather.

I found an adorable gray off the shoulder sweater yesterday at Fab'rik (which you can still see on the highlights in my Instagram stories) and it made me think about how grays are the perfect neutral for this time of year.

I've put together some great simple sweaters that will go with anything in your wardrobe below. They are easy to wear and will look great with a pair of jeans, booties or over the knee boots. It's all about styling, styling, styling!

I have been around fashion, design, and stylist my entire life and it is the heart of why I started my blog. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE RADIO and I'm not going anywhere, I just missed my roots.

The Asher Collection At fab'rik Birkdale

 What do the names Isaac, Eva, Zuri and Asher mean to you? Right now, probably nothing but I hope you feel differently after shopping this specific blog.

Peak Week

     

It's here! This is "peak week" for the autumn colors in Charlotte! How pretty are these fall shades against this magnificent background?

I had the pleasure of shooting with the amazing Cindy Lauren Photography this week to collaborate on this epic scene.

If you're looking for an ideal dressy casual look I think I found it! This beautiful ruffle cold shoulder sweater is from Nordstrom by BP and it pairs perfectly with this mustard Blue Blush skort from Page 6! (available instore only)

I love the look of skirts but I always feel a little insecure in them. I'm not that tall but I do have pretty long legs so when I saw skorts making a come back I was the most excited!

This outfit goes great with a pair of over the knee boots and a casual clutch! I paired it with a pair of Dolce Vita boots and a Tory Burch clutch, but you can always get creative. The necklace is a piece I picked up from Fabrik online!

Dear Saturday

Dear Saturday, you are my favorite! Mainly because we had some much-needed family time at the Renaissance Festival today!

It feels like I have been working nonstop lately and I always try to set aside a family activity, for Dallas and I to bond with Cashton. The Ren Fest has been a tradition for Maney, Roy and I since we started working together in Charlotte three years ago. This year was especially fun because we got to include our families.

Cash is at the age where he wants to explore EVERYTHING, so watching him take in all the pirates and knights was a ton of fun. Of course, when we got home, he took the longest nap and now he is up and ready to go again!

Luckily, Grandma is coming to visit, so while we wait for her to arrive I thought I'd share our Saturday threads.

Rain Rain Go Away!

Ugh! This RAIN!

I have been running around all day for meetings about some dynamic collaborations, so stay tuned! Very exciting stuff, but not so exciting trying to run through sheets of rain and still attempting to stay cute.

Sounds like a challenge, right? Well throw me some cute rain boots and I will build an outfit around it! Luckily, we saw a little break in the monsoon and I was able to run outside and snap a picture of this ensemble to share with you!

Finally! Fall Weather!

Do you feel that? Fall is finally here! And yes, I am the girl that changes out her summer threads for fall duds at the first fallen leave! Break out the boots and oversized sweaters!

If you haven't noticed by now my style is casual chic. Don't get me wrong I LOVE to dress up but when you get up at 3:45am for work cute casual is the name of the game.

I always look for outfits that can go from the radio station to banging around town with Cash. Here is one of the looks we love for fall.
