Freeing My Mind With Free People

-

You know I try to be a positive person in life. I pray, I make time for my family and I try to hustle when it comes to my business. I believe (as cliche as it may sound) that you get out of life what you put in. However, as balanced as I try to be, it REALLY irks me when people try to take advantage of a situation.

Two Friday's ago I was headed home from a client meeting on 77 South, when I watched a bolt fall off a hauler truck and hit my window. I looked up at my windshield to assess the damage and realized not only was my front windshield shattered in the upper passenger side window but that the bolt was still laying on the hood of the Stormtrooper.

My eyes immediately refocused on the hauler truck it had fallen from and I proceeded to flag down the driver. As we pulled off the highway I took a photo of the bolt still laying on the jeep. When we stopped I explained to the driver that it had fallen from the top of his tall tailgate and returned the bolt to him. I also at that point asked for his insurance information and to speak to the owner of the company.

I spoke to Andre, the owner of the Excavating & Hauling company on the phone and he assured me that we would rectify the situation. However, after weeks of getting the run around from the company and their insurance, it became painfully obvious to me that my windshield was not going to get fixed... at least not by them.

After coming to terms with what goes around comes around, I've decided to let karma work it's self out and get the window fixed myself. I mean who has time to sit around and wait on dishonest people? I've got blogs to write.

Thus, to take my mind off the vile words I could name call (can you tell I'm really hanging on to this one?) I've decided to share this perfect spring transition look with all of you!

I'm freeing my mind with this adorable Free People embroidered dress and blush booties from Chinese Laundry. I chose to pair this look with my favorite Page 6 fringe earrings. I get so many compliments anytime I brake them out. Plus, who doesn't love a great bag to complete a pretty seasonal look?

All Business In 2019!

-

Happy New Year Friends! I can honestly say I have never been happier to wave goodbye to a year. 2018 was a tough year for my family and we are hoping for things to get off to a great start in 2019!

This will be the year of focus for me. My long term goals this year are to focus on my family and my radio career. You hear stories all the time about how challenging it can be to balance both, and as a working Mom, I can attest to that!

I have always been a big believer in vision boards and I am working on mine this week to include growing our radio family and putting even more resources into baby Cash's speech in 2019.

Vision boards have always helped me keep sight of the things I've wanted to achieve and keep them fresh in my mind. It is so easy to get caught up in life and distracted by drama. You know what they say? "Out of sight. Out of Mind." Vision boards help me visually see what I need to keep myself motivated!

Of course, also included on my vision board this year as cute looks for the young, busy Mom on the go! I love this business casual inspired blazer from Nordstrom and Free people waffle thermal. I kept this look leaning more casual with a pair of destressed black jeans and leopard flat mules. Add a great necklace and my signature hoop earrings and I am ready to take on the world in 2019!

I hope you are too! Happy New Year!

Di Nuovo A Scuola : Back To School

-

Well, I did it ... I've gone back to school! No, I'm not quitting my day job to become a full-time student again. I am just taking a night class, Italiano beginners, and let me tell you, it doesn't feel like beginner's Italian!

Maybe it's because I've been out of college for 12 years but it could also be related to the fact that my professore speaks to us only in Italian. Now Dallas and I have been to Italy 3 times in the last 4 years and I thought this would be a nice way to pay homage to my heritage. I had NO IDEA I was walking into the snake pit... but here I am! Cazzo!

I feel like most of my classmates have some sort of foreign language experience making the learning curve much easier for them. I probably screwed myself here but in high school, I opted to take American Sign Language instead of Spanish or French. Thus, I feel like I don't hear the words the way some people do. If I cannot see and listen to the words at the same time it is hard for me to hear the detail of the word structure.

Bringing me to my next issue. Our textbook comes along with a CD for our studying pleasure. The only problem is ... I DON'T OWN A CD PLAYER! Who does?!?! Aren't we past the CD phase?!? My car doesn't even have a CD player in it! Everything is digital now!

I've gone against the grain for four weeks now, trying to study on my own, but I am getting nowhere fast. I am so lost in the class that I am afraid to participate until I get myself caught up! So, I am sitting in my office today, at the only 2007 computer I know, dubbing in the CD to make a digital copy I can listen to on my phone!

While I cram for tonight's class here is an adorable look that is as retro as my computer! Who doesn't love overalls and flannels from the 90's?! I found these skinny-legged bibs from Free People and paired them with a simple white tank and flannel button down that I found at Target!

For my accessories, I went with an affordable, nude patent leather bootie from Fabrik Birkdale. I threw on my favorite signature hoop earrings and grabbed my Mahi leather backpack (zaino) and I am ready to hit the books!

I love this Mahi bag for so many reasons! Mahi has a huge selection of bags, duffels, and backpacks to choose from! I chose my bag, not only because of its name (The Roma ... so fitting for my class) but also because Mahi personalizes their bags and packs! Check out the beautiful stitching of my initials on the back of this leather piece!

Friday Night In Miami

-

What an amazing night with my Miami Dolphin Cheerleader sisters! It is officially alumni weekend here in Miami!

After the show Friday morning I hopped a flight from Charlotte Douglas International airport to join my dance sisters for a weekend of fun, hosted by my former team.

If you are new to the blog, I cheered for the Miami Dolphins professionally from 2003 to 2006! I can honestly say these were some of the BEST years of my life, from being a cover girl on the highly anticipated swimsuit calendar to dancing on the field in front of 75,000 live fans and performing for our troops on USO tours overseas. I will never forget the memories or the friendships that I made during this time!

I didn't join a sorority in college so this was my "squad". The Miami Dolphins believe in this sorority life and sisterhood and even gift us "rookie rings" after we complete our first season. A welcome to the legacy present if you will.

Last night we attended a fabulous welcome cocktail party on the Intercoastal and I pulled out this beachy two-piece set from Free People for the occasion. I styled this comfy yet trendy look with my Artsy Louis Vuitton bag and nude heels from Red Dress Boutique. I also broke out my K.Brunini bangles for this event and accented them with a great pair of Kendra Scott earing!

I hope you enjoy this look as much as I did because you can shop the look below!

Sip & Style Prep

-

Clothes aren’t going to change the world, the women who wear them will! Remember that as you’re getting dressed for your day tomorrow!

Hopefully, your Friday plans include shopping with me at Fab’rik Birkdale in Huntersville tomorrow night. I am hosting my first Sip & Style Event, and of course, I am over the moon about this “Meet The Blogger” evening. Not only because I get to meet all of you but because I love Fab’rik's fashion and wine… equally! I know you probably see my posts every week about what I am wearing from Fab’rik and I love their line because it is so trendy and affordable!

Tomorrow evening from 6-7pm I will be offering complimentary one-on-one styling sessions at Fab'rik's Birkdale location and we are sure in for a treat because a ton of new Spring transition pieces have just been released. I can’t wait to show you them and do a little shopping myself.

I am headed to New York Fashion Week February 9-11 to cover NYFW for the first time as a blogger. Thus we can find the perfect outfits together!

I have been to NYFW many times before as my sister in law is a stylist in NYC, but attending in this capacity adds a whole other level of excitement and I am in full-blown planning mode! Next week will be crazy, finishing up last minute details and packing cute outfits like this one.

These are my all-time favorite Stuart Weitzman boots and they are on crazy sale! They are definitely an investment piece but if there was ever a time to buy them, this is it, because they are 40% off! I am loving this new Free People, keyhole turtleneck as well! It's perfect for a spring look even though it's not quite warm enough yet for skirts and sandals.

Hide and Seek

-

I am dealing with a major dilemma this morning! My Christmas tree is dead and I am not ready to take it down. However, I kinda feel like it's a fire hazard at this point!

Our tree didn't last long this year and I will take full responsibility for that. We get our Christmas tree every year on Black Friday. We hop in the car and drive down to Penland Christmas Tree Farm to get the full experience! They give you a hand saw and let you walk through fields of trees until you find the perfect one. They also have a huge fire pit that the kids (and myself) can roast marshmallows on.

Anyhow, we got our beautiful tree home and decorated when my husband had to fly to Florida to do some work to a condo we are selling and I forgot to water the tree while he was gone. It's not typically my duty so it never even dawned on me the dang thing needed water.

Thus, now we have a crunchy Christmas tree with wilted branches that are dropping needles. When the lights are on it still looks pretty (if you squint and tilt your head to the side) but I'm almost positive this tree is one spark away from destroying my life.

While I decide what to do with ole smoky I wanted to share today's look with you! The good news is this "Hide and Seek" sweater is adorable and crazy comfy, the bad news is that it is almost sold out everywhere. So, I have attached a couple different links below in hopes that you get the last few!

Happy Shopping!

Red Hot Sale Alert

-

I am not ready to give up red, even if Christmas is over!

I found this amazing Free People pullover sweater right around the holiday at Nordstrom. However, I just realized it is on sale at Revolve as well!

Of course, since this velvet dream is almost $80 off right now, I had to share it with you! This pullover has a unique look with dropped sleeves that are to die for! Free People always gets it right! I just love their stuff.

I paired this red merlot sweater with my new Bauble Bar earrings, a pair of medium washed jeans from Fab'rik Birkdale and these showstopping booties!

It's funny. I laugh every time I wear them because I hated my white boots when I cheered for the Miami Dolphins but now they are so in style!
