Be A Boss Not A B*tch

Let me just start with a great quote. "You can always tell who the strong women are. They are the ones building each other up instead of tearing each other down". Plain and simple if you are the malicious type, I have NO USE FOR YOU! 

It truly makes me sick that there are women in business that try to take others down when in reality working together would have been MUCH more beneficial. I have been dealing with a lot of negativity in my life lately and it has been stifling. To have anxiety about simple daily tasks is ridiculous. If you are someone who finds yourself avoiding people in the hallways or hiding in your office, that is no way to live.

You don't have to roll over for those people anymore. My advice to a woman giving another woman a hard time is to "be a boss, not a b*tch." If you are currently medaling in someone else's life take a good long look in the mirror and ask yourself what it is about that person that aggravates your demons? Are you jealous? Are you longing for something they have? Or is there something going on in your personal life that you are projecting onto them? Either way, it's time for some self-reflection and prayers. 

Bottom line, handle YOUR business and don't be green with envy when others can handle theirs. Brush up on your skills and be the boss you were born to be because respect is earned not given.

Where I've Been ...

      So it's official! We've closed on the new house! However, we still haven't sold our old one yet. Meh! Thus, most of my time has been focused on what I can do to appeal to buyers in a super-saturated market, which is why I have been so MIA lately. After brokers lunches and multiple open houses where visitors provide feedback, I feel like I am pretty much an expert home stager at this point! 

     When we put our house on the market 30 days ago I was just trying to get it listed quickly in hopes that getting it out there would sell it. How wrong I was! Looking back at our MLS photos I now realize that I could have done much more to make our home a clean slate for buyers to see their own lives unfold here (not ours). 

     Of course, when I first listed our home I knew I needed to take down all of our family photos and make sure the house was immaculate, but I failed to realize that our wine collection and personal items were clouding buyers attention to the actual house! 

    After receiving feedback (which I was offended by at first) I decided to take the constructive criticism to heart and "de-clutter" our house. Now, luckily I have a new home to move things into but I've learned some people consider putting their things into a pod or storage unit until they sell their homes. 

    Some of you might be wondering what "de-cluttering" consist of? Well, let me tell you when I do something... I do it big! Our home currently shows like a model house. I've removed all unnecessary furniture to make the rooms feel as big as possible. I've also taken down all of our wine and cleared our bar tops in the bar room and the kitchen. I've cleared out 50% of our hanging clothes in the closets to make them feel as large as they can and I've taken EVERYTHING off of our built-in bookshelves.

I am hoping and praying that this will help sell our home soon. I am even going as far as having our MLS photos retaken to spotlight our new space. I'll keep you posted! Chambray Summer

Oh, how I love Chambray in the summer... and no I'm not talking white wine. Chambray, not to be confused with Chardonnay, is that light denim material you've seen everywhere lately. Although I like where your head is at!

Chambray is the fabric of the moment, but what is it really? It looks like denim but feels like linen. Well, although it does share some common elements with denim, it is actually categorized as it's own unique material.

Chambray is a plain single weave construction, giving it a softer feel than traditional denim. Subsequently, after washing this material, you will need to iron it to bring back it's soft texture. 

I am loving this tulip backed tank top in this alluring fabric, coupled with a traditional pair of slightly distressed white denim jeans. I styled this look with a pair of nude strappy summer heels and my brand new Katey Brunini bracelets.

These bracelets have always represented milestones in our relationship. One from our first wedding anniversary and one from Cashton's birth date with his birthstone at the center. 

This one also has great meaning in my life. Dallas gifted me this bangle as a representation of Woofer, our late fur baby who we said goodbye to last month. Of course, I cried when he put it on my wrist and told me the meaning. Now, I proudly wear it every day along with my other reminders of a blessed life I am lucky to have.

Pretty In Pink

Monday's Motto: Hustle for all of the pink! 

I have been a little under the weather lately and it has been hard for me to get motivated now that I am feeling better. It has been the hardest transition back to the land of the living after a weekend of being cooped up in the house. 

Luckily, my brother and I share this quote with each other when we need a little motivation in our lives. "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work harder." It's something our Father instilled in us from an early age. If you want it, go and get it, no one is going to hand it to you.

So here I am, getting back to work and sharing this look with all of you! It is my favorite bodysuit of the season and I paired it with my favorite high waisted denim leggings. We shot this looking in NYC at Fashion Week so I threw on my favorite (and inexpensive) sandals and my Hermes belt that I picked up on The Real Real.

A Meaningful Monday

Normally Mondays got us like, ugh!

Today, however, isn't just any other Monday. It's MLK Day. A day for us to remember that all things are possible and it's a reminder for us to be open and accepting of each other.

I've paired this look with my favorite Just Black jeans and Chinese Laundry booties. I know you guys see these booties on me all the time, but they legit go with everything. If you could only have one neutral bootie in your closet, this is it!

Another great piece I can't get enough of is a neutral clutch. I always say to invest in bags and shoes because good ones will last forever.

Golden Fall

The leaves are falling and the days are getting shorter and shorter and before we know it Autumn will have come and gone. Thus, I am enjoying the last of the fall colors. 

After being outside for a playdate with Cash, I was inspired by the golden colors as they start to dwindle away. On my latest trip to Target, I saw this turtleneck and I knew I needed it in my closet. It is as lightweight as turtlenecks come and it is super soft! 

It always happens! You walk into Target for ONE THING, and you walk out with a whole new wardrobe! I am convinced they pump something into the air in that store! It's like shopping catnip!

Splurge & Steal Friday

It's PAYDAY! The day we all wake up and check the good old bank account for that direct deposit. Well if you're anything like me, you confirm it's there and you're off to the mall... it's a problem really.

However, with all of these fall sales going on it's hard to contain yourself. Half of my outfit today is a steal and the other half is a splurge.

Let's start with the steals! I am obsessed with this jacket, even though when I bought it I wasn't quite sure about it because it's a little extra, but now I'm all in and it's ON SALE! It's by BLANKNYC and I picked it up at Nordstrom. The metallic Champagne tee is from Express and it's perfect for a casual Friday, plus it is also on sale.

My favorite part of this outfit is the shoes I found yesterday on sale at Nordy's by Halogen. I feel like we all need a good metallic slip on in the repertoire.

The black jeans I have on are not on sale but they are very reasonably priced from Just Black. This Kendra Scott silver pendant necklace also won't break the bank.

Now for the splurges. I have ALWAYS wanted a Chanel brooch and when I got my first bonus check from work, it was a gift to myself. The sunglasses are a pair of rose gold Burberry shades I picked up at the airport on our summer trip this year and this YSL Metallic crossbody bag doubles as the perfect clutch.
